Before The Band there was The Hawk. Ronnie Hawkins died yesterday. The Last Waltz is the first documentary we saw and for us the only and the best music documentary ever made. Martin Scorsese caught The Band performing and looking their best and most luscious. We are convinced that because this is the first documentary we watched we love documentary forever (unlike fiction, first film we ever saw was Soldaat van Oranje and we stopped watching fiction for many years after).
