Last weekend in de Volkskrant a disturbing and detailed background story about how Sakir Khader got listed on the FBI terrorist watchlist. We have been working with Sakir for years and, besides never a dull moment, his work and life and work never cease to amaze, confront, and teach us. He takes urgency, an often used word in the documentary field, resilience, and combativeness to another level. This article is of importance because it mirrors many dark sides of Western politics and classic islamophobia. Khader’s work is of significance because it confronts us with evidence of things not seen: the intimate, alive yet sorrowful world of many people living under the terror of war, aggression, and injustice. He is forever driving me crazy, but only love. The article is written by Maud Effting and Huib Modderkolk. We will post a copy of the article on the mint film website for people who have no Volkskrant subscription .
